The Remote Dog Collar: Why It Is Different

Published by Puppy Care Blogger under 14

Training your dog is an important part of its adapting process. That’s because you want a fun and enjoyable companion, but you don’t want that companion to create you problems unintentionally with the people you live or with your neighbors. You might remember a time where you wanted to work, study, or sleep, but you couldn’t because a neighbor’s dog kept barking. The last thing you want to do is put someone else in that same situation.

There are different products that offer solutions to get dogs to stop their barking or to reduce it to much more acceptable levels. For example, you can get a remote dog trainer.

The Principle

The remote collar works differently than the way other types of training collars work, like the citronella collar or the electronic bark collar. The biggest difference is that you control the collar yourself. That makes the collar much more applicable in training sessions, as opposed to collars which are left on the dogs and work by themselves.

When you make the dog wear the remote collar, you need to be with it if you want the training to be effective. You start by teaching your dog one trick at a time, and add more complex tricks after the dog has learned the first one, and only use the collar if the dog disobeys an order. If you use the hand held remote transmitter you should be holding in your hands, it is going to send an electrical stimulation to your dog via a set of probes sticking out from the dog collar.

When you make the dog wear the collar for the first time, you should make sure that the two steel prongs are in direct contact with the skin of the dog’s neck.

Don’t worry about whether the collar will hurt your dog because it won’t. It does use static electricity to scare the dog but that is all it does is scare the dog a bit and not injure him at all. Some owners consider it to be a form of cruelty, but unless you try it on yourself you will pretty much not be able to tell and not many owners are willing to do that. If you decide that the collar is painful, then just get another type of collar.
