Looking for real, in depth information regarding the Bark Off system on today’s internet is extremely difficult. Every link that one looks at seems to be just another product pitch, rather than anybody giving any details about what it really does, or how it works, etc.
What does this thing actually do that makes it work so well? Why does it work, if it really does work as well as they say? It sounds too good to be true, so what are the disadvantages of using this thing? With only advertisements to answer your questions it turns out to be rather difficult to get any answers at all. At the very least, you should know how it works to help train your dog. Treats are a good incentive, but after a while they are no longer needed because the dog has learned that this command means sit and that one means lay down.
Dogs are typically creatures of habit. Barking, unfortunately, is a habit they take to very easily. Every once in a while they stumble upon behaviors that produce certain results and then they form a habit of that behavior. For instance, if they know they are to be fed at a certain time, they will go and sit by their bowl at that time, waiting. They see or hear something and they start themselves off on a tirade because that’s what they are used to doing. You help the dog form a new routine.
You distract them. For instance, if your dog has developed a problem with licking her paws to the point where she has no fur left on them, you can change this behavior by distracting her with a toy each time she begins to lick her paws.
